Director Chettan Warns of India's Food Safety Crisis Ahead of 'The India Story' Release
Director Chettan has raised concerns over India's food safety crisis while promoting The India Story, warning about pesticide misuse, food adulteration, and their impact on public health. Starring Kajal Aggarwal and Shreyas Talpade, the courtroom drama highlights corporate accountability and environmental concerns ahead of its July 24, 2026 release.
Chettan said the situation has become dangerous because, according to his research, nothing served on people's plates remains truly authentic. He further claimed that even mineral water cannot always be considered genuine. Stressing the importance of food, clothing, and health as the three basic necessities of life, he questioned the value of clothing and healthcare if people are unable to access safe and healthy food.
The director said parents across India would be deeply disturbed after watching The India Story. He stated that the film would reveal realities that many people are unaware of and claimed that families would struggle to sleep after learning about the extent of the problem. He clarified that his remarks were not intended to promote the film but reflected the seriousness of the issue portrayed in its narrative.
Chettan further said that people work tirelessly to earn food for their families, but all those efforts become meaningless if the food itself contains poisonous substances. He described The India Story as a film made for every Indian family and urged audiences to become more aware of everything they consume after watching it.
The film also stars Shreyas Talpade in the lead role and focuses on the issues of pesticide misuse, food adulteration, and their impact on public health. Kajal Aggarwal portrays Advocate Archana, a lawyer who joins an ordinary citizen in a legal battle against powerful corporate interests accused of endangering lives. Through its courtroom drama and investigative narrative, the film seeks to encourage discussion on food safety, corporate accountability, and environmental concerns.
The India Story is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 24, 2026. With its focus on one of the country's most pressing public health concerns, the film aims to draw national attention to food safety, corporate responsibility, and the need for greater public awareness about the quality of everyday food products.
